SPRINGTIME TREE CARE TIPS
Springtime Tips from our Arborists
The Winter is officially over here in Florida so we put together a few Springtime tree care tips for caring for your trees during this season of warmer, sunnier weather, that pesky pollen, and beautiful blooms!
Proper Mulching
Your trees should have a ring of mulch around the base of the tree, but not touching the trunk. Avoid creating a mound-like shape. Use organic material, such as; leaves or woodchips.
Proper Pruning
Your pruning technique depends on the size of the tree branch. For smaller limbs, you may be able to support the limb with one hand while making each cut. This prevents the tree bark from ripping, protecting the tree for healthy growth. With larger branches, there is a three-step method to follow to protect both you and your tree. Follow the steps below!
- Cut 1/3 of the way through the branch on the underside
- Go 2-4 inches beyond the undercut to remove the branch
- Make the final cut just outside the branch bark ridge and trunk collar.
